Hi. Mark is my name, and being awesome is my game. I write fiction in various forms (short and novel-length, literary and fantasy) and a little poetry here and there. I have an MFA in creative writing, which apparently qualifies me to tell other people (i.e. students) what they're doing wrong in their writing projects without necessarily having had to achieve any major professional writing success of my own. I'm also a singer, songwriter, and hack pianist, and have been known on occasion to perform my songs around town and get told by drunk divorcees that I sound like Elton John. FTW.

I have two full-time jobs. The first is teaching mythology at a high-end private technical school. The second is being a pop-culture sponge and an irrepressible snark.

There is a distinct possibility that I am the unholy love child of Tori Amos and Joseph Campbell, but I guess we'll never really know for sure.
